Installing Google Play Store on Amazon Fire Tablets
As much as I love the reliability and toughness of an Amazon Fire Tablet, the selection of applications in the Amazon Play Store is limited. I desire to have Kobo and Nook digital books on my Fire tablet as well as Google Play and VUDU movies.
The Fire tablet runs a modified Android operating system. You can unlock the Fire Tablet and load a Google account on to it making it a both a Fire and Google Android tablet. Once Google Play Store is installed on a Fire tablet, you can load and run applications that are not available from the Amazon Play Store.
I would not recommend modifying a Kindle Fire 7 due to the fact that the 4 Gig RAM version has too little space to install Google Play store yet alone any applications. The only useful purpose of a Kindle Fire 7 with only 4 Gigs of RAM is to play Amazon content stored on its memory card.
The Kjndle Fire 7 and Fire 8 with 16 Gig of RAM can be modified with Google Play Store but it is best to use a Kindle with 32 or 64 Gig of RAM.
There are various websites that have technical information on how to modify an Amazon Fire to load and run Google Play Store.
VUDU and Google Play Movies will store media content on the external memory card. Google Play Books and many other Android applications will only store media content using internal memory.
